Whilst some are happy living with one or two moles or otherwise hidden marks, others with more obvious birthmarks seek help with birthmark and mole removal. View typical before & after laser birthmark removal treatment images below.
Laser treatment is very effective and considered the gold standard” for reducing and removing most vascular birthmarks. Without treatment, vascular birthmarks can become dark purple and thicken producing skin nodules.
The number of sessions required for successful birthmark removal will depend on the size and other characteristics of the mark itself. Laser Treatments will advise on the likely number of treatments required at your free initial consultation.
4 -10 laser treatment sessions may be necessary for best results, with a 50% fading of the birthmark after 5 sessions and with continued improvement with subsequent treatments.
It is recommended that treatment be repeated every 4 – 8 weeks until a satisfactory result is achieved.
After laser treatment the skin may appear “bruised” for about a week before the birthmark begins to fade.
Patients should avoid sun exposure and wear sun block cream both before and after laser treatment.
